About This Programme

The Renewed Hope Medic Cities Program is a landmark inter-ministerial collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. Facilitated by the Medical Doctors and Healthcare Workers Housing Initiative under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government, this unprecedented social welfare intervention is designed as an extra-remuneration incentive to enhance the living condition of Nigeria's health workforce whose contribution to national development cannot be over-emphasized. The program operates through public-private collaboration that includes the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the private sector as key collaborators.

Eligibility Requirements

Who qualifies for Medic Cities housing?
All health sector workers including medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lab scientists, radiographers, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals with valid credentials working in recognized healthcare facilities.
What is the distribution plan for houses?
The overall plan is to have up to 250 units of houses built in every town that hosts a tertiary hospital. Being a demand-based housing program, only locations that have at least 50 qualified applicants will have a Medic City constructed.
What house types are available in my state?
In FCT, Lagos, and Port Harcourt: 1, 2, 3 bedroom flats and 4 bedroom semi-detached duplexes. In other states: 1, 2, 3 bedroom semi-detached bungalows and 2, 3 bedroom fully detached bungalows. Both fully finished and semi-finished options are available.
What are the payment options?
Houses are allocated through single digit Rent-to-Own or NHF mortgage for a repayment period of up to 30 years, but not more than your remaining years in service.
What is the target for Phase 1?
The program targets to construct 25,000 quality and affordable houses for health sector workers, with 10,000 housing units to be delivered in the first year across all states of the country and the FCT.
